Carbon is disrupting traditional manufacturing by making 3d printing a viable alternative to injection molding. It's primarily focusing on mass customization, having already partnered with Adidas Futurecraft 4d to 3d print sneakers. Currently, Carbon is valued at 1 billion dollar and is one of the 50 most innovative companies of 2018 according to MIT Tech Review.
I've been leading product design at Carbon since 2015. Carbon's software does two primary things: fleet management and print prep. The fleet management workflow is about resource allocation and scheduling. The print prep workflow about getting a model ready to print such as orienting and supporting the model.
